This workshop will provide an overview of barriers to understanding speech in classrooms. Students with hearing loss often seem to do well in small settings. However, distance, background noise, poor room acoustics, and teacher accent, among other things, can create invisible barriers. The presenter, who has hearing loss, will provide strategies and options for serving these students. Participants will develop a heightened sensitivity to and awareness of the myriad of challenges that students with hearing loss face in a classroom setting.

The presenter, Rose Aird Minette, is a Communication Access Specialists with DHHS.

This webinar is intended for professionals who work with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, students who are deaf or hard of hearing, and parents of deaf and hard of hearing students.
