Communication Strategies for People with Hearing Loss

Real Time Captioning (CART) will be provided for each webinar. Requests for additional accommodations, other than CART, must be received at least two weeks in advance of the webinar date. Audio access, for those who would like it, is via your computer speakers. If you do not have computer speakers or, need a sign language interpreter via VP, call the number provided on the webinar page after you log in.

To earn 0.15 DHHS General Studies CEUs for each webinar (accepted by BEI), participants must take a pre-test (included in registration page) and a post-test, and also remain actively engaged in the webinar. If you need RID CEUs, contact an RID CEU provider in advance of the session to request PINRA approval to earn CEUs.

We are responding to these changes by maximizing safety while still prioritizing effective communication. We are happy to announce that SLS has adopted Virtual Video Interpreting (VVI) services. VVI services are available anywhere there is internet access, and in any setting where an interpreter is needed, such as school, court, hospital, doctor’s office, etc.


To all in our communities, we wish you to stay at home whenever possible, stay healthy, and stay safe! While we are still offering in-person interpreters as a last resort at this time, we want to partner with you in adhering to social distancing, and other suggested safe work practices. In this way we can all limit the risk to ourselves, to those in our households, and to those we work with. It is our sincere hope that we can successfully navigate this crisis together.
